Stability and Safety The ancient goddess Brigid is the patron of healing, poetry and smithcraft. Her sacred fire burned in Kildare and was tended by nineteen Druids priestesses, on the twentieth Day; Brigid herself tended the fire. Wells, rivers, and the Celtic fire festival Imbolc on February 2nd are sacred to Brigid of the Celts. Saint Brigid was born in 453C.E. Legends says Saint Brigid wove the first piece of cloth in Ireland. She is the patron of weavers and spinners. St. Brigid was known for her generosity and kindness to all. She became a nun and founded an order at Kildare, where nineteen nuns tend St. Brigid’fire to this day. In Ireland, February 2nd is called St. Brigid’s Day. She is the female patron saint of Ireland.
